Alonso to run Rolex 24 Hours at Daytona

News

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Fernando Alonso will return to the Rolex 24 Hours at Daytona next year with Wayne Taylor Racing.

The two-time Formula One world champion and Kamui Kobayashi, an FIA World Endurance Championship regular, were named co-drivers Tuesday for the twice-round-the-clock endurance race Jan. 26-27 at Daytona International Speedway. They will join Wayne Taylor Racing regulars Jordan Taylor and Renger van der Zande in the No. 10 Cadillac.

It will be the second consecutive Rolex for Alonso, who retired last weekend from F1. The Spaniard raced last year with United Autosport in the LMP2 class and finished 13th after a mechanical issue.

He was part of the winning 24 Hours of Le Mans team in June.

Alonso already announced a return in May to the Indianapolis 500 as he seeks to win all the top races in the world.
