IndyCar looks to announce title sponsor ‘soon’

News

INDIANAPOLIS — IndyCar Series officials hope to make an announcement about the organization’s new title sponsor before a February test in Austin, Texas, and long before NBC begins its expanded coverage of the series this season.

Series officials have been seeking a replacement for Verizon, which announced in October 2017 it would leave the series after the 2018 season.

Mark Miles, president and CEO of IndyCar parent Hulman & Co., said he would like to see the new sponsor’s name on the cars and firesuits for the test. NBC also announced Wednesday it will carry eight races on network television this season.

Miles said the development of a wind screen continues and it still might be added to the cars this year.
