Automobile Club of Moldova Promotes Sustainable Transport and Road Safety During European Mobility Week

The Automobile Club of Moldova (ACM) actively participated in this year’s European Mobility Week, an annual initiative by the European Commission aimed at promoting behavioral change in favour of eco-friendly transport options, such as walking, cycling, and public transport. The 2024 theme, “Public Space for All,” encouraged communities to explore healthier and more sustainable ways to get around.

During the week, ACM held road safety lessons for students at “Gheorghe Asachi” High School and “Dante Aligheri” School. Primary school students learned about traffic rules, safety practices, and the benefits of using alternative transport.

The week’s main event was a road safety workshop for children, organised in collaboration with the National Inspectorate for Public Order (INSP) and supported by the General Department of Urban Mobility of the Chisinau Mayor’s Office.

The workshop featured activities on pedestrian and cycling safety, with the most active participants receiving safety helmets and reflective gear. More than 2,000 children and parents took part, helping to raise awareness of sustainable transport and encouraging safer, healthier travel choices.

In October, ACM will release a report summarising the campaign, including improvements to pedestrian crossings and the community’s role in promoting road safety.
