And when pushed on whether he is confident that he will get the answer he is hoping for some time soon, the 35-year-old added: “The thing with this sport is you never know what’s happening in the background.

“There’s always lots of politics involved; we are talking about a big corporate company, a big business as well. There’s many reasons behind decisions such as driver line-up. All I can do now is trust Mattia [Binotto] and his words, and then we’ll see.”
