EASU Enhances Motorsport Safety and Precision with FIA-Supported Technology Upgrade

With the support of the FIA Motorsport Funding Programme, FIA Member Club the Estonian Austorsport Union (EASU) has invested in cutting-edge timing, camera, and digital flag systems to enhance the safety and sporting quality of its competitions.

The new systems, including MyLaps timing hardware, ApexTiming software, and Pixelcom digital flag systems, meet FIA Grade 3 standards and are being deployed in rallycross, karting, and circuit racing.

A 30-camera system, produced by RGMMC, ensures comprehensive race coverage, enabling race stewards to make informed decisions in all race situations. In addition, the ApexTiming technology streamlines the control and monitoring of race equipment, such as vehicles, components, and tires.

Janis Kaal, EASU Board Chairman, emphasised the importance of modern technology in motorsport, where precision and safety are critical. “Thanks to the FIA’s support, Estonian motorsport has taken a major step forward,” he said. “In a sport where every millisecond and millimeter count, and where safety errors can have serious consequences, relying on outdated tools is simply not an option.”

Janis also praised EASU’s young and dedicated team for successfully implementing the advanced systems during the 2024 season. “Our expertise is now enabling us to support neighboring countries as well,” he added.
