TECH WEEKLY: Inside Williams’ significant aerodynamic upgrade – with a second instalment to come

Formula 1

Williams made the first full aerodynamic upgrade of its FW46 two races ago, at Zandvoort, and the second instalment of that upgrade is expected to appear in Singapore in two weeks’ time.

As Williams’ lead driver Alex Albon put it: “The first part is about load and the second part is about balance.”

That initial upgrade is based on an all-new floor optimised around a redrawn bodywork of the sidepod front and radiator inlet. The roll hoop has also been redesigned, though this part of the upgrade is primarily about weight saving.
